Let's Get On With It
Willard Mullin
Original sports cartoon

1955. On September 21, 1955, Archie Moore abandoned his light heavyweight category and crown to face Rocky Marciano, a future Hall of Famer, seeking Marciano's Heavyweight title. Moore briefly dropped Marciano in the second round. Marciano recovered and knocked Moore down five times, finally knocking him out in the ninth round to retain his belt. This was Marciano's sixth and last title defense before retiring the next year. One of Mullin's recurrent references to Greek mythology appears in the upper text box. (published September 21, 1955)

Original cartoon by Willard Mullin, NY World Telegram & Sun. It is from this original drawing that the image was reproduced in the newspaper.

Willard Mullin has been called the "Rembrandt of Sports Cartooning" and created over 10,000 sport cartoons during his cartooning career.
