MASS MEDIA cartoons become fine art
No other form of art captures the spirit of late Nineteenth Century America than the stone lithographs that appeared in the weekly opinion journals such as "Puck" and "Judge." Not only did artists like Joseph Keppler and Frederick Opper understand the political environment of the day, but they understood the artistic techniques of stone lithography to produce beautifully executed works of art.
Even though their cartoons were created for a "throw-away" journal, the copies of their work that survive today stand the merits of being superb artistic creations.
All stone lithographs presented here are ORIGINAL and VINTAGE saved directly from the original publication as published. There are NO reproductions. These stone lithographs all of are "fine" or better quality. The double page cartoons do have the inevitable fold through the middle, but in most cases is not noticeable.
