July Gallery Show: 8th ANNUAL "The Art of Dr. Seuss" in Williamsburg
Check out some of the art categories below to find artwork just for you!
A classic collection of American memories
The Spirit of Americana is alive and well in Williamsburg, Virginia at The Art-cade Gallery, where you will find an eclectic cross-section of traditional American artwork on display and available for sale. Here you will be able to find that “perfect” storytelling decorative accent for your home or office that reflects defining moments in American life and culture. In addition, you can relive memories of your childhood with the collection of fantasy art from nursery rhymes to Dr. Seuss to original “TV Guide” covers.
...be transported
to the past

The Golden Age of Illustration, spawned at the beginning of the Twentieth Century, popularized creative artwork published in books and magazines. American readers of a century ago were transported to a world they had never before imagined by illustrators who through their paintings set the popular styles, trends, and myths of the day. That original art lives on, with many examples for sale at The Art-cade Gallery.
...be entertained and informed
Political, comic, and sport cartoons were the “instant news” sources of their time and provide insightful reflections of the era in which they were produced. The collection of original cartoons for sale at The Art-cade spans over a century and includes the work of present-day cartoonists.
...be a child again
In supporting its focus on storytelling, The Art-cade also has special prints and serigraphs, depicting delightful nursery rhymes and magical flights of fantasy – as well as incomparable reproductions of both published and previously unpublished artwork by the ever-enduring Dr. Seuss.

...be amused
Three-dimensional art, items that can both be seen and felt, by America’s foremost artisans are found throughout The Art-cade: unique bronzes, hand carved wood figures that often are delicately painted, and handcrafted “soft” sculptures. One of our featured items is the “Colonial Elf” by Bethany Lowe which Bethany designed exclusively for The Art-cade and is available in a limited edition of just 25!

...be reminded
Posters have been used to mobilize citizens to purchase bonds, conserve energy, and support troops during The Great War (World War I) and World War II. Posters also have promoted movies, travel destinations, and special entertainment events. The vintage posters (not reproductions) at The Art-cade Gallery have a primary focus on subjects that were first brought to public view by America’s favorite classic illustrators.

...be inquisitive
In the book corner at The Art-cade Gallery will be found volumes by artists, about artists, as well as art-related anthologies. (Sorry, we do not carry “how to” art books!) The emphasis is on illustrators, cartoonists, and animators.

Olde Williamsburg comes alive
A visit to the historic areas of Jamestown-Williamsburg-Yorktown brings graphic memories of the people who first settled in this part of the New World. In a series of lithographic prints and canvas reproductions entitled, “The People of Williamsburg,” by local artist Mickey Sego, the tradition, imagery, and spirit of colonial townspeople are delightfully captured and come to life. This series of nostalgic scenes in signed and numbered reproductions is for sale exclusively at The Art-cade Gallery of Williamsburg.
