| Ornithologist & Birdcage Reginald Birch Original artwork
This classic pen and ink drawing by Reginald Birch was done as an illustration in St. Nicholas Magazine in 1900. His first art in this popular children's magazine appeared in the 1880s and he became one of their most prolific artists. Birch also illustrated "Little Lord Fauntleroy," one of the most widely published books of the time and very influential in the world of art.
This drawing shows an ornithologist with a seemingly empty birdcage. The poem below reads:
In this cage there's a Weewee A kind of bird so small That with the strongest glasses, It can't be seen at all!
The illustraton board currently has some dirt acquired over the last century. |
